“Tell A Story About Emily”? Where to begin? She and I met in 2005, but only this semester became close with her. Thank God I did, though, because we are, in effect, the same human being in two ridiculously hot bodies. She is the best poet I know and has all this really hip, fun knowledge that she lets me in on. We’re partners in crime, and we drink a lot of champagne together. No, a LOT-really-a LOT of champagne. I think we’re averaging about four bottles a week. And…she’s completely glamorous.

She lives in Houston, very close actually [listing 3rd Ward as neighborhood]. Besides, she has photos of my favorite place [MFAH] and my favorite break place [Cafe Express in the MFAH]. also, she is an artist. Maybe we are simpatico??..Hmmmm, let’s see

I met her tonight at a fundraiser for the Anderson Fair documentary. She’s really down to earth. If you’d been in the room, and you didn’t know her, you couldn’t have picked her out of the crowd. She made a really low-key entrance, and signed a lot of stuff for everyone. Not to mention she’s playing two shows at Anderson Fair this weekend, and donating all of her revenue to the film makers. She’s such a complete sweetheart!

David Sedaris is the reason I bought a typewriter. I wrote him a thank-you note once I realized how amazing typewriters are. He answers all of his mail. I got a postcard from him about a month after I wrote him. I was so happy! :]
